Ilya Marotta Becomes First Female To Lead The Panama Canal
A 35-year canal veteran and former deputy administrator, Ilya Espino Marotta becomes the first woman to lead the Panama Canal. Formerly, Marotta helped oversee the waterway's $5 billion expansion and will now lead major infrastructure projects, including new ports, a gas pipeline and logistics corridor.
