Around 40 million migrant daily-waged workers have been hit hard by COVID-19 induced economic distress, lockdowns, travel bans and social distancing requirements. As they reach home enduring unprecedented ordeals, they face the risk of hunger, indebtedness and prolonged unemployment. In order to protect the community in these tough times, American India Foundation (AIF) kick-started a livelihood programme wherein migrants were asked to stick masks for the community. Here’s how this project has saved hundreds of families from hunger and will hopefully protect thousands and thousands more from the coronavirus pandemic.
