In a unique centuries-old tradition, residents of Menar Village in Udaipur, Rajasthan, celebrated Holi with guns and cannons as part of the historic 'Jamra Beej', also known as Gunpowder Holi, on March 4.
Unlike the colourful celebrations seen across most parts of India, villagers in Menar mark the festival by firing traditional weapons and cannons to commemorate a 400-year-old military victory over Mughal forces. The celebration symbolises the warrior spirit and historic legacy of the local Brahmin community, turning the festival into a dramatic cultural spectacle.
