Hegseth Says Iran 'Exercising Sheer Desperation' In Strait Of Hormuz: "Don't Need To Worry About It"

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Iran is “exercising sheer desperation” in the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Iran war. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth said the situation is “something we're dealing with” and insisted Americans “don't need to worry about it.” Iran has continued launching missile and drone attacks on Israel and Gulf states, while U.S. and Israeli forces carry out strikes across Iran. Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and continue attacks as part of Tehran’s retaliation. The strategic waterway handles about 20% of the world’s oil shipments, raising global concerns about energy supplies. U.S. officials say they have targeted Iranian mine-laying vessels and are closely monitoring threats in the region.
