Heatwave Alert: When Does Heat Exhaustion Turn Into Heat Stroke? Doctor Explains

Amid soaring temperatures and orange alerts in Delhi, doctors warn that heat-related illnesses can quickly become life-threatening. Explaining the risks, Dr Ajay Chouhan said heat stroke can occur directly and does not always follow heat exhaustion.
He highlighted key warning signs such as vomiting, nausea, and altered consciousness, stressing that rapid cooling is critical for survival. Preventive measures like hydration, shade breaks, and light cotton clothing can significantly reduce the risk during extreme heat conditions.
