Heatwave: 45 Degrees New Normal, In North, Central, East India

Amid a punishing heatwave building up in northwest India, the maximum temperature in Gurgaon crossed the 45 degrees mark today. The maximum temperature today was 45.6 degrees Celsius, the Indian Metereological Department said. India today reported 3,303 fresh COVID-19 cases that took its tally to 4,30,68,799, while the active cases increased to 16,980, according to Union Health Ministry data. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated seven new cancer hospitals in Assam's Dibrugarh on April 28. While laying the foundation stones, the Prime Minister highlighted the initiatives taken by the BJP government to ensure "peace and development"; and more in the 8 pm news.
