Are H-1B visas still crucial for India's IT industry? Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal says the world has moved on. Speaking to NDTV, he argued that post-Covid work models have dramatically reduced dependence on US work visas. According to him, companies no longer need to send large numbers of Indian engineers to America when the same work can be delivered remotely from India at far lower cost. Goyal pointed to the rapid rise of over 1,800 Global Capability Centres in India, creating jobs at home and making businesses more profitable. His message to the IT sector, the future lies in offshore delivery and domestic talent, not in the old H-1B lottery system.
