Gurgaon Oxygen Shortage: Staff "Abandon", Patients Die
Viral videos have emerged from a hospital in Gurgaon where hassled relatives of patients can be seen running around and alleging that the hospital staff abandoned even ICU patients after the hospital ran out of oxygen. The video is from Kriti Hospital in Gurgaon's Sector 56 where six people lost their lives last on April 30 due to oxygen shortage. The hospital director, Dr Swati Rathore, told NDTV that the hospital had informed every government official since 2 pm that day that they were about to run out of oxygen and had informed relatives of the patients from 4 pm to shift their patients due to the oxygen crisis. But no help came and there were six casualties at around 11 pm. The hospital director claimed that she asked her staff to hide in the canteen to save their own lives as on April 24, attendants of other patients had violently assaulted their staff and an FIR had been registered by the hospital. She feared that her staff would lose their lives this time and claimed that all 15 to 20 staff members resumed duties as soon as police arrived at the spot on Friday night.
