Govt under fire over new CBI Director: Should his appointment be held back?

A war of words has broken out between the government and the Opposition on the appointment of Ranjit Sinha as the new CBI Chief. The BJP says the government is pushing through his appointment to prevent the selection of the CBI boss through a collegium which includes Sushma Swaraj, something that could happen if the Lokpal bill is accepted. The BJP had written to the Prime Minister asking him to put in abeyance the Mr Sinha's appointment, but Dr Singh has rejected the Opposition's demand.
