Govt system guards against tsunami
The devastating tsunami of 2004 caught India and most of Asia by surprise. Large parts of the country were badly hit with more than 15,000 people having lost their lives that fateful Sunday morning. The government decided enough was enough and vowed to put in place an Indian tsunami warning system.
