Israel is reportedly in talks with South Sudan to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza strip to the war-torn East African country. This is being seen as part of a broader effort to facilitate mass emigration from Gaza which lies in ruins after Israel's 22-month offensive against Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has earlier said that he supports US President Donald Trump's vision of relocating much of Gaza's population. Netanyahu refers to it as "voluntary migration", and Israel has floated similar resettlement proposals with other African nations.
