20 years after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, there is a controversy over the death sentence for three convicted in the conspiracy for his killing. They are scheduled to hang on September 9. UPA ally, the DMK has called for clemency, saying even Rajiv Gandhi would have commuted the sentence after 20 years. However, state Chief Minister Jayalalithaa says she cannot commute the sentence.
