India's Growing E-waste Problem

India's appetite for consumer goods, and the constant pressure to upgrade quickly, means that it is looking at a mountain of e-waste. India is the 5th biggest producer of e-waste or electronic waste in the world. E-waste contains more than 1,000 different substances, many of which are toxic. 95% of the e-waste are handled by the informal sector, which becomes a health hazard for the e-waste pickers.
