‘Ek Pukur Bhalobasa’: Kolkata Pandal Revives Bengal's Love For Ponds
Once central to everyday life in Bengal, ponds are increasingly disappearing amid rapid urbanisation. This Durga Puja, Kolkata's Juba Sangha in Telipukur is bringing attention to their importance through its 2026 theme, Ek Pukur Bhalobasa, meaning “A Pond Full of Love”. Conceptualised by artist Bhabatosh Sarkar, the pandal draws inspiration from traditional ponds and their place in everyday life, highlighting the need to conserve these vital water bodies.
