The Corus from Europe, it seems is not sounding good for Tata Steel as production has been slashed by 30 per cent. With demand still dropping, the season of layoffs is just getting longer. Corus plans to seek the help of the Dutch government to cut job hours in its Ijmuiden plant, leading to an immediate cost saving of 100 million pounds. If cleared, the furlough will run for six weeks.
