In a creative twist in Bihar's Begusarai, a Durga Puja pandal features an idol of Goddess Durga slaying an effigy of US President Donald Trump, who replaces the demon Mahishasura. According to locals, this depiction serves as a “powerful symbol of good triumphing over evil, the essence of the Sera.” This unique form of protest coincides with President Trump's announcement of a new 100% tariff on all non-US pharmaceutical brands and foreign firms. The new trade measure is scheduled to take effect from the 1st of October. The pandal has drawn attention for connecting a global political issue with a traditional religious festival, portraying the tariff announcement as an act of 'evil' being vanquished by the 'good'.
