Durga Puja Has A 414-Year-Old Connection To This Place: Ground Report
Some of Kolkata's oldest home pujas have turned into tourist attractions. NDTV visits some of the oldest Durga Pujas in the city. Four centuries ago, 414 years to be precise, is when the Durga Puja started in Barisha at Sabarna Ray Chaudhury's family home. This is largely believed to be the origin of the Durga Puja in the current form in Bengal and this family's history is closely inter-twined with the history of the Durga Puja that is today famous globally.
