Delhi Violence: 'Political Probe' Amid Pandemic?

The Delhi Police's investigation into the violence in Delhi has come under criticism for alleged lack of credibility amid the coronavirus pandemic. The violence claimed over 50 lives. The police say they are running a fair probe and have filed 750 cases, arrested over 1,300 - an equal number from both communities. But going by police FIRs and arrests, the conspirators behind the violence are, according to the police, activists or Muslim student leaders linked to the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA. The police make an arrest on charges of organising protests; when the court grants bail, on grounds of lack of evidence, the activists are re-arrested on even more serious charges - murder, sedition, terrorism and conspiracy. The latest: two women, part of a group that fights for the rights of women students, and also linked to the anti-CAA protests, have been arrested. They were granted bail for lack of evidence, but were arrested again.
