Delhi University's crackdown before polls

With less than 24 hours to go before the Delhi University student union elections, the administration in a heavy handed approach banned protests and unleashed the cops on teachers and students. Women teachers were assaulted, disabled teacher put under house arrest and five students jailed. In the politically charged atmosphere, a 11-day-old hunger strike by students for better hostel accommodation was ignored by the administration.
