Delhi Gymkhana News | "Police Won't Forcibly Vacate": Centre To High Court On Delhi Gymkhana

The Delhi Gymkhana Club has suffered a setback after the Delhi High Court refused to grant interim relief against the Centre’s move to reclaim the club’s land in the heart of New Delhi. While issuing notices to all parties, the High Court declined to stay the government’s order terminating the lease, with the Centre assuring the court that no forcible eviction would take place without following due legal procedure. The government has argued that the 27.2-acre property — located near the Prime Minister’s residential complex and opposite the Air Force racecourse — is required for defence infrastructure, public security purposes and other urgent institutional needs. The court has now sought responses from all sides, while the future of the iconic Gymkhana Club property remains under legal scrutiny ahead of the June 5 deadline set by the government.
