Bad Air Quality + Covid Is Double Trouble: AIIMS Chief
Rising air pollution combined with coronavirus infection and lung complications can lead to serious consequences, and therefore, higher mortality, Dr Randeep Guleria, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said. "Covid affects lungs, air pollution causes inflammation, therefore lungs get doubly stressed out. This leads to more severe disease, causing higher hospital admissions and deaths," he said.
