A fresh political flashpoint has erupted after Congress MP Manickam Tagore hit out at alliance partners VCK, MDMK and CPI. His remarks come amid demands by these allies for action against an aide of Rahul Gandhi.

Hitting back, Manickam Tagore questioned why Congress's allies were attempting to dictate terms to his party. He asked whether these parties would accept similar advice if the roles were reversed, and whether they would heed Congress's suggestions in their internal matters.
