Preparations for the Commonwealth Games 2030 in Ahmedabad are firmly on track, with key officials expressing confidence in India’s readiness to host the prestigious multi-sport event. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha and Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President Donald Rukare recently visited Ahmedabad to review the progress and outline the vision for the Games. P.T. Usha emphasized that the 2030 edition will focus on sustainability and cost efficiency, with no new venues planned. Instead, existing infrastructure will be upgraded and modernized, ensuring a world-class experience while maintaining financial prudence. She also spoke about the overall costs and the long-term legacy the Games aim to create. CGF President Donald Rukare highlighted that the upcoming Glasgow 2026 edition—often described as a “mini Games”—is on schedule and will serve as an important precursor to Ahmedabad 2030. Discussions also touched upon the sports likely to feature in the 2030 Games and how Ahmedabad’s edition will differ from the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games, particularly in terms of sustainability and efficient use of resources. With a strong emphasis on legacy, environmental responsibility, and optimal utilization of existing venues, the Ahmedabad 2030 Commonwealth Games aim to set new benchmarks for future editions.
