China News | 25 Killed As Cargo Ship Catches Fire At Chinese Port
A cargo ship undergoing repairs at a Chinese port caught fire on Thursday, killing 25 people, according to Chinese state media. The vessel, identified as the Ocean Melody, was docked at Beihai Shipbuilding Co. in Qingdao. A total of 42 people were on board. Twelve were safely evacuated, while five injured people were taken to hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. The fire broke out around 11 am and was extinguished by 2:30 pm. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered urgent rescue efforts for those missing and called for measures to prevent major accidents.
