More than 20,000 people in Canada's British Colombia are still under evacuation order as of Tuesday evening, as out-of-control wildfires continue to tear through the province. Currently, over 100 active fires are burning across the province, where the situation remains what the local authorities described as highly risky and unpredictable. Some residents remain trapped and unable to flee to safety as the fires advance rapidly. Footage captured by a China Global Television Network (CGTN) stringer on Tuesday evening showed the fast-spreading blazes turning the sky orange and sending thick plumes of smoke into the air. The wildfires have intensified to the point of creating their own weather systems, generating dry lightning that sparks new blazes and erratic winds that complicate the emergency containment efforts. The wildfires were first detected last Friday and the province declared a state of emergency the following day. The fires have destroyed a large number of residential homes and other buildings.
