Lockdown Impact: India's Manufacturing Output At Record Low, Says Survey

According to a private sector survey by IHS, India's manufacturing activity contracted at its sharpest pace on record, after the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Nikkei Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, compiled by IHS Markit, plunged to 27.4 in April from 51.8 the previous month, by far its lowest since the survey began in March 2005.
