Just Increasing Irrigation Cover Not Sufficient: Agriculture Economist Ashok Gulati
"We are dependent 60% on groundwater for irrigation and that is depleting specially in the northwest. We need to learn one cropping patterns and how to use irrigation rather than just flood irrigation. Just increasing irrigation cover is not sufficient because we are utilising water in a very inefficient manner," says Ashok Gulati, ICRIER, Chair, Professor, AGRI.
