Politics in Jhalawar, the last constituency in the Hadauti region of Rajasthan bordering Madhya Pradesh, has revolved largely around one family and one figure -Vasundhara Raje Scindia and her son Dushyant Singh. Raja, as Mr Singh is fondly known as in this area, is fighting his fifth Lok Sabha election. Jhalawar has been represented either by Ms Raje or her son since 1989. In the last election, Dushyant Singh won by a massive margin of over four lakh votes and now the mother-son team will take on the husband-wife duo from the Gehlot cabinet as former minister Parmod Jain Bhayya's wife Urmila takes on Dushyant Singh in Jhalawar - Baran, also famous for its orange farming.
