Karnataka Congress chief B.K. Hariprasad has indicated that the proposed township project could be dropped if farmers are unwilling to part with their land. Defending the project, he noted that the groundwork was enabled by land reform measures introduced in 2013 and said the current government has merely carried the initiative forward. Hariprasad emphasized that farmer consent remains crucial and reiterated that compensation for acquired land would be three times the market value, as provided under existing rules.
