Bangladesh Unrest | Situation Tense In Bangladesh After Unrest Over Uprising Leader's Death

Tensions are running high in Bangladesh following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent leader of the July Uprising. Hadi succumbed to gunshot injuries in a Singapore hospital after six days of treatment. He was shot in the head by masked gunmen last week, while launching his election campaign in Dhaka. After Chief Adviser Mohd Yunus confirmed his death, protests turned violent in several parts of the country. Demonstrators vandalised newspaper offices, set fires, and attacked cultural institutions. Protesters also targeted 32 Dhanmondi, the historic residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
