A new assessment by leading China military analyst Andreas Rupprecht, published in The War Zone, suggests China may already operate around 500 J-20 'Mighty Dragon' stealth fighters-more than double many previous global estimates.
If current production continues, China could field nearly 1,000 J-20s by 2030, while India's indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is expected to enter service only around 2035. At present, the Indian Air Force has no operational stealth fighters, highlighting a widening capability gap.
