Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has hit back at critics amid mounting outrage over Bengaluru's civic mess. Responding to questions from industrialists and citizens about the city's poor infrastructure, he said that no other government in India has empowered citizens the way his has - by allowing them to upload photos of potholes and garbage directly for civic officials to act upon.
Speaking at an event to inaugurate white-topping projects and road development works in the city, Shivakumar claimed that over 10,000 potholes have already been closed, and accused the BJP and its MPs, including Tejasvi Surya, of neglecting Bengaluru's infrastructure needs. He also questioned why the Centre had not released adequate funds for the city's development.
