When we planned a short getaway to North Goa, we wanted something modern yet family-friendly, close to the beaches but not right in the chaos. After much browsing, we chose Ibis Styles Goa Vagator - and I must say, our two nights and three days here turned out to be a delightful mix of comfort, style, and Goan charm. Located on Chapora Fort Road, just a five-minute drive from Vagator Beach, the hotel instantly feels vibrant. The colourful architecture and coastal-inspired design set the mood even before check-in.
Unlike some cookie-cutter hotels, this one blends contemporary design with Goa's heritage, and that energy shows up in the smallest of details - the art on the walls, the lively interiors, and the overall cheerful vibe.
The check-in process was smooth, and the staff greeted us warmly. What stood out was their attentiveness - they asked if we needed anything special since we were travelling with a child. Small touches like that always make a big difference.
The Rooms
The hotel has 142 rooms, each with its own quirky personality. Our room was stylish yet practical, with unique artwork and a private balcony that became my morning coffee spot. Everything was clean and thoughtfully arranged. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom had all essentials neatly in place.
Since it was my birthday during our stay, the team went out of their way to decorate the room with flowers and balloons. It was such a lovely surprise and made the experience extra memorable for the whole family.
Food Experience at Spice It
Food can make or break a stay, and here it absolutely shined. The in-house restaurant Spice It offers a mix of Goan, Indian, and global dishes, with organic and vegan options too. What makes it special is the collaboration with celebrity chef Sanjyot Keer, who has curated a menu blending Indian flavours with modern twists.
From the nostalgic Railway Chicken Curry to the indulgent Gulab Jamun Ice Cream, every dish had a story behind it. Chef Deepak, the head chef at the property, mentioned that they've been focusing on homely yet creative flavours to match diverse guest preferences. My husband and child loved the food - they even customised dishes to make them child-friendly. Personally, I couldn't get enough of their seafood options - Panko Crusted Prawns are a must-try. Another dish I highly recommend from the Sanjyot Keer menu is Pav Bhaji Fondue. This unique dish is for every cheese and spice lover out there.
The breakfast buffet was delightful. There was good options of Indian, South Indian and western dishes, with a wide variety of fruits and beverages. One morning, we wanted to have breakfast outdoors, by the pool, and the staff was generous enough to arrange it for us.
Amenities and Facilities
One of the highlights for us was the pool area. The pool bar gave off vacation vibes instantly. For fitness enthusiasts, there's a well-equipped gym, and the lawns are perfect for a relaxed walk in the evenings. The hotel also offers 24/7 room service, laundry, transportation, and even event spaces, which makes it practical for both leisure and business travellers.
Location Advantage
The location is spot-on if you want to explore North Goa. Vagator Beach, Chapora Fort, and several lounges are just minutes away. In less than half an hour, you can also reach hotspots like Anjuna or Morjim. The hotel is easily accessible from both Dabolim Airport (around an hour's drive) and Mopa Airport (roughly 45 minutes). So, whether you're flying in for a short break or an extended trip, reaching the property is hassle-free.
Hospitality That Stays With You
While the amenities and design are great, what truly sets Ibis Styles Goa Vagator apart is the hospitality. Every staff member we interacted with was attentive, helpful, and genuinely warm. From arranging transport to ensuring our comfort at mealtimes, they went the extra mile. The birthday surprise was just the cherry on top.
If you're looking for a stay in North Goa that balances style, comfort, and convenience, Ibis Styles Goa Vagator is an excellent pick. It's trendy yet family-friendly, close to popular beaches but peaceful enough to relax in, and offers food experiences that go beyond the usual. Our short trip here was filled with warmth, flavour, and lots of little moments that made it special.
