Is Air India Cancelling All International Flights?
No, Air India has not cancelled all its international flights. The airline has categorically denied the viral claims, calling them “malicious” and “fabricated.” In an official statement issued on their X handle, Air India said that reports suggesting a complete shutdown of international services until July are false and baseless, and urged passengers to rely only on its official communication channels for accurate information.
What Triggered The Confusion
The confusion appears to have stemmed from a viral social media post claiming that Air India had cancelled all international flights due to a fuel shortage. At the same time, reports about the airline reducing or adjusting some international routes in recent weeks may have added to the misunderstanding. Air India has indeed scaled back parts of its international network, but this is not the same as cancelling all flights. The adjustments are selective and temporary, affecting only certain routes and frequencies.
Why Some International Flights Are Being Reduced
According to reports, the airline has been trimming its international operations due to a combination of factors, including:
- Rising aviation turbine fuel prices
- Airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict
- Longer flight routes increasing fuel consumption
- Pressure on profitability of certain long-haul routes
More than 500 international flights were cut across April and May, according to reports. Separately, out of over 1,000 daily operations, around 100 flights are expected to see temporary reductions or rescheduling.

What This Means For Travellers
Despite these adjustments, Air India continues to operate flights to major global destinations across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
However, passengers may notice:
- Fewer weekly flights on certain routes
- Schedule changes or rescheduling
- Temporary suspension of select sectors
Separately, flights on specific routes such as Tel Aviv–Delhi remain suspended until the end of June, due to ongoing regional tensions.
While the airline is adjusting its schedule and reducing capacity on some routes due to rising costs and geopolitical challenges, its global operations continue to run. For passengers, the key takeaway is to check flight status through official sources rather than relying on unverified social media posts, especially at a time when airline schedules remain dynamic.
