A traveller has reportedly become one of the first to make full use of the annual toll pass recently launched by Nitin Gadkari. The pass, priced at Rs 3,000, allows free passage for private vehicles at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or 200 trips, whichever is earlier. According to his Instagram post, he covered 13 states in 25 days, visiting 12 Jyotirlingas and four Dhams, while travelling a total of 11,000 km. At the start of his journey, his toll pass had 199 trips; by the end, 119 trips had been deducted, leaving him with 80 trips still available.

Normally, crossing 119 toll plazas on this journey would have cost between Rs 15,000 and Rs 17,000, but the pass significantly reduced his expenses. However, he did incur additional costs of Rs 2,439 for certain tolls not covered by the pass, including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which he took to experience its scenic route. This detour added 200 km to his trip, along with Rs 1,200 in extra tolls and Rs 2,000 in diesel. Other tolls paid included Rs 300 on Osho Road in Tamil Nadu, Rs 240 on the Samruddhi Marg, and Rs 250 on the Purvanchal Expressway.
The traveller shared a reel on Instagram captioned: "119 trips deducted from my Annual Toll Pass in the last 25 days only. I was on my 12 Jyotirlinga and 4 Dham. Solo Roadtrip." The reel's text read: "First Indian to do this. Annual Toll Pass. 25 Din Me 120 trips Minus."

The annual highway toll pass was introduced last month by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. It is designed to help private car, jeep, and van owners save on toll fees while travelling on national highways and expressways across India.
