The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, boosting regional connectivity by linking key towns and integrating with major national corridors en route to its final destination. Also known as the Wildlife Corridor, this expressway features a six-lane, 213-km access-controlled stretch that reduces travel time between the two cities from five to six hours to about 2–2.5 hours.
Built across northern India, the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has now become a major point of attraction for travellers. People want to know whether they can really cover the distance from Delhi to Dehradun in 2.5 hours now. One viral video making the rounds on the internet reveals the ground reality of the highway project.

Can Delhi To Dehradun Can Now Be Covered In 2.5 Hours?
In a viral video titled, “Is the government telling the truth!? Let's verify,” the travel vlogger says in Hindi, “The government has claimed that the journey from Delhi to Dehradun takes just 2 hours and 30 minutes. We are currently in Delhi, and the exact time right now is 11:00 AM. So, let's see if we can actually make it from Delhi to Dehradun in 2 hours and 30 minutes or not.”
Midway through the video, the traveller praises the development while mentioning, “So, currently we are at the 12 km long, which is India's longest elevated wildlife forest corridor over here.”
Key Features Of The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
Throughout the video, the travel vlogger ticks off several boxes while sharing his real experience on the highway. This includes proper road maintenance for smooth driving, traffic-free stretches and provisions for wildlife safety.
However, he notes that Google Maps was not working while he was driving on the expressway. Additionally, there is a lack of amenities such as toilets. Finally, after driving for roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes, the vlogger is seen entering Dehradun. In a completely amused tone, he says, “I seriously can't believe it's 1:21, exactly 2 hours 20 minutes, I have already arrived in Dehradun.”
He captions the video, “Is the claim made by NHAI true? We went to reveal the truth,” adding, “NHAI has spoilt us.”

More About The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
The highway project, worth Rs 12,000 crore, will significantly improve regional connectivity, linking key towns, including Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, before reaching Dehradun. The expressway will also integrate with major national corridors, including the Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Katra and Delhi-Meerut expressways.
The newly constructed Delhi-Dehradun Expressway reportedly features 10 interchanges, 3 road overbridges, 4 major bridges and 12 wayside amenities.
As the corridor passes through the eco-sensitive zone of the Rajaji National Park, it also comprises a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor, two 200-metre-long elephant underpasses, and eight animal passes to enable unrestricted wildlife movement and safer crossings.
