Earlier, the Ministry of Railways announced an experimental "Round Trip Package for Festival Rush" scheme aimed at easing passenger congestion and ensuring smoother travel during the festive season. The scheme provides a 20% rebate on the base fare for the return journey when passengers book confirmed tickets for both onward and return travel with the same set of passengers, class, and route. Bookings opened on August 14, 2025, for onward journeys between October 13-26 and return journeys between November 17-December 1. Advance reservation period norms are waived for return bookings.

The offer applies to all classes and trains, excluding those with flexi-fare pricing. No fare refunds are allowed for tickets booked under this scheme. Additionally, rail travel coupons, vouchers, passes, and PTOs cannot be used for the discounted return journey.
