Dubai's airspace remains shut as of now, following escalating regional tensions triggered by US-Israel strikes on Iran and subsequent retaliatory actions. The temporary closure has led to full suspension of flight operations across major airports in the UAE.

Yet, interestingly, Indians can still book tickets to Dubai on most airlines and travel platforms, with fares appearing comparatively lower than usual.

Why Is Dubai's Airspace Closed

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority imposed a temporary partial closure of national airspace as a precautionary measure to safeguard flights, crew, and national sovereignty amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

The restrictions are part of a broader regional response. Multiple Gulf countries, including Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, have either restricted or fully shut their airspaces, resulting in widespread disruptions across international routes.

Airports Affected Across The UAE

Major UAE hubs are currently impacted:

  • Dubai International Airport (DXB)
  • Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)

Both have suspended all arrivals and departures until further notice, with passengers advised not to travel to the terminals.

Other airports, including Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah International Airport, have similarly halted operations.

Tickets Are Still Being Sold Online

Despite the operational suspension, bookings remain open on several major platforms.

We checked MakeMyTrip, the official websites of Air India, Indigo Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, and more.

Only Qatar Airways' website currently displays tickets as unavailable, in line with its own operational suspension due to the closure of Qatari airspace. The airline has stated that operations will resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of its airspace, with a further update expected on March 03 at 09:00 Doha time.

All other platforms, however, continue to show availability for Dubai-bound flights, including tickets for today itself. Have a look:

Tickets to Dubai are also sold on the Air India website.

Even though no Etihad Airways flights are available from March 2 to 4, they can be booked from the 5th March.

Even though tickets for other dates are not available on Qatar Airways' website, you can still book a ticket to Dubai for March 3rd.

Tickets from Delhi to Dubai are also available for SpiceJet.

Fares Drop Amid Uncertainty

Another notable development is pricing. Tickets from India to Dubai are currently visible in the range of approximately Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000 (most cases) for same-day departures, which is comparatively lower than average peak fares on this sector.

The reduced prices likely reflect the uncertainty surrounding flight operations and potential cancellations. While bookings can be made, actual departures remain subject to airspace reopening and airline advisories.

What You Should Keep In Mind

Although tickets are bookable, passengers are strongly advised to monitor official airline communications and airport advisories before heading to the airport.

With arrivals and departures suspended across major UAE hubs, scheduled flights may face cancellations, diversions or delays until the airspace is officially reopened.

For now, the booking systems may say 'available', but whether those flights will actually take off depends entirely on how the regional situation unfolds.
