Nokia is cutting 1,032 jobs in Finland as part of a cost-cutting programme following its acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, the telecom network equipment maker said in a statement on Friday.

Nokia on Tuesday reported a first quarter net loss of 513 million euros ($584 million) due to lower demand in mobile networks as well as the impact of its acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent, and warned of a further decline in earnings.

Telecom network equipment maker Nokia is planning to cut thousands of jobs globally, including 1,400 in Germany and 1,300 in its native Finland, as part of a cost-cutting programme following the acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent earlier this year.
