India's Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with the first-ever Hridaynath Award in Mumbai, on the occasion of the singer's 82nd on September 28. Also present at the event were Amitabh Bachchan and Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray amongst others.
India's Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with the first-ever Hridaynath Award in Mumbai on her 82nd birthday on September 28. Also present at the event were Amitabh Bachchan, filmmaker Yash Chopra and Uddhav Thackeray, executive president of the Shiv Sena.
Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with the award for her contribution to Indian music.
Amitabh Bachchan presented her with the award, that has been instituted by Hridayesh Art, a Mumbai-based NGO.

The legendary singer praised the Big B and said, "I consider you God as far as speaking in Hindi is concerned. I am proud that I have got the award from Amitabh Bachchan."

After receiving the award, the legendary singer showered praise on her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar, in whose name the award was being given."Hridaynath and my other three sisters never sought any financial help from me," she said.
