Since it's the month of Ramzan, food lovers in the capital are going all out to explore delicious Iftaar delicacies with friends and family. Have you been thinking of heading out for a scrumptious food walk to Old Delhi to savour the Iftaar food on offer? It's really about time. Only a few days remain for the grand celebration of Eid al-Fitr (this year it begins on June 14), which marks the end of Ramzan. This means you have just a couple of days left to indulge in lip-smacking kebabs, biryani, nalli nihari, sheermal, phirni and so many other flavourful dishes.
Wondering where to head to and how to plan your food exploration? We bring you a list of three most popular places to visit in Delhi during Ramzan that are known for their legendary eateries. Have a look:
1. Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid in Old Delhi is one of the largest mosques in India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. So of course during the holy month of Ramzan, people from near and far make their way to pay a visit. The streets surrounding the mosque evoke a festive spirit and the numerous eateries get unbelievably busy as soon as the evening prayer ends. It is the most popular destination for Iftaar food walks and for obvious reasons. The food here is legendary and you can try a whole range of treats for a lavish feast. Places that are worth visiting include Aslam Chicken Corner (spicy grilled chicken dunked in desi ghee), Haji Mohammad Hussain (fried chicken and keema goli), Bilal (nalli nihari), for kebabs - Babu Bhai ke Kebab, Qureshi and Lalu's, for biryani - Karim's and Mota Pehelwan, and Cool Point (shahi tukda and matka phirni). For refreshments, you must try the Gur Sherbet and Pyaar Mohabbat Maza.

2. Nizamuddin
Nizamuddin is a busy neighbourhood because of two iconic sites - Humayun's Tomb and Nizamuddin Dargah. During Ramzan it draws food lovers because of the spectacular food that are available in the numerous eateries that dot the narrow lanes. Some claim that the food here is better than Jama Masjid, especially if you love kebabs and biryani. Must-visits include Ghalib Kebab Corner (seekh and shammi kebabs), Hussaini Hotel (nalli nihari and sheermal) and Moradabad Biryani Stall.
3. Zakir Nagar
Though Zakir Nagar (where Jamia Milia Islamia University is located) is not as popular as Jama Masjid, it doesn't disappoint at all when it comes to offering delectable food to its visitors. With relatively less crowd to deal with, you can indulge to your heart's content at nameless eateries that offer such flavourful food that it will stay with you for a long while. Places worth visiting are Javed Famous Nihari, Al Rashida (ulta tawa parathas and kebabs), Talib Kebab Corner, Purani Dilli Restaurant (burra kebabs and haleem), Madina Hotel (paya, bheja, korma), Shama Biryani Centre (biryani and chapli kebabs), among others. For sweet lovers, head to Ashraf's Sweet Corner where you can try shahi tukda, phirni, falooda, etc.
Now that you know these places, go on and explore delectable Iftaar delicacies on offer.
