Weather Today Highlights: The Southwest monsoon set in over Kerala on Thursday, three days later than its usual arrival on June 1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) ) has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20cm) over Kerala and Karnataka during the next seven days, that is till Thursday (June 11). There is heavy rainfall prediction for Tamil Nadu as well. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over northeast India during the coming week.

Weather Forecast LIVE: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Guwahati, People Advised To Stay Alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty winds over Guwahati city and isolated places across Assam over the next 2-3 days.
The weather pattern suggests thunderstorms, lightning, and a few spells of rain are very likely at isolated places in Guwahati and other districts of the state during this period. The conditions may aggravate waterlogging, slow vehicular movement, and increase the risk of localised landslides in vulnerable areas.
District authorities and the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) are closely monitoring the situation, and emergency response systems have been kept on alert.
In view of the forecast, ASDMA has urged residents of Guwahati to take all necessary precautions and remain vigilant.

Deaths were reported in Dholpur, Bharatpur and Bhilwara districts due to wall collapses and flying debris amid strong winds.

Heavy rainfall continues across Kerala as the monsoon intensifies, with the India Meteorological Department issuing the first red alert of the season for five northern districts.
Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod have been placed under red alert on Saturday, while three districts are expected to remain under red alert on Sunday too.
An orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Palakkad and Pathanamthitta districts, while Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram are under a yellow alert.
The strengthening monsoon has already triggered rain-related incidents in several parts of the state.
Strong winds also lashed Kozhikode city in the morning, uprooting trees at several places.
Amid the worsening weather conditions, authorities have issued a detailed safety advisory.

Heavy rains and strong winds continued to lash several parts of Kerala on Friday, and several tree branches fell down, damaging vehicles and property.
The IMD issued an orange alert in eight districts of the state for the day.
The rains are expected to intensify during the weekend as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in five districts -- Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod -- for Saturday and three -- Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad -- districts on Sunday.
For Friday, the IMD issued an orange alert in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of the state. Besides that, it issued a yellow alert in the remaining six districts of the state.
Heavy rains caused waterlogging and flooding in many low-lying areas under the Kochi corporation, leading to protests outside its office.

Heavy rains continued in several parts of Kerala, waterlogging roads and flooding low-lying areas, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issuing an orange alert in seven districts of the state.
The IMD issued an orange alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod districts of the state.
The weather agency also said that thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds reaching 40 kilometers per hour were likely in various parts of these districts.

Weather Forecast LIVE: Light Rain Expected In Delhi Today
A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi, meaning light rain is expected in the national capital today.
"Light rain is expected in parts of Delhi, along with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds of speed 40-50 kmph, even gusting to 60 kmph," an India Meteorological Department official (IMD) said.
The maximum temperature for the day is likely to be around 36-38 degrees Celsius, according to IMD forecast.

Southwest monsoon set in over Kerala on Thursday (June 4), three days later than its usual arrival on June 1. This, according to the India Meteorological Department, is within the standard deviation.
"The Southwest Monsoon is delayed by three days as the normal date of onset of monsoon over Kerala is June 1 with a standard deviation of seven days. Thus, the delay by three days is within the standard deviation," said Dr Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology at the India Meteorological Department.
