Lal Babu Prasad: Jan Suraaj's East Champaran Candidate Is A Paediatrician

The Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, announced Lal Babu Prasad as its candidate for the Dhaka seat in East Champaran in the Bihar elections 2025.

Prasad faced Pawan Kumar Jaiswal of the BJP, Madhusudhan Khushwaha of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Rana Ranjit Singh of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Bihar went to the polls in two phases, on November 6 and 11. The results will be out on November 14.

Who Is Lal Babu Prasad?

Lal Babu Prasad is a doctor with over 15 years of medical experience. He has worked as a child specialist in both government hospitals and private practice.

He runs his clinic in Motihari along with his wife Priti Kumari, who is also a doctor. Prasad and his wife have long been engaged in community health initiatives and welfare activities across East Champaran.

He belongs to the Extremely Backward Castes (EBC) and is known for his efforts to uplift and empower marginalised communities.

Prasad has been associated with the Jan Suraaj Party for some time. The 2025 Bihar Assembly election is his political debut.

For the Bihar assembly elections 2025, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and JD(U), finalised most of its seat-sharing. The BJP and JD(U) are each contesting 101 seats, while the LJP is fielding candidates in 29 seats.

The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), including the RJD, Congress, and other left-leaning parties, is still finalising its arrangement. The Congress has released its first list of 48 candidates.

The Jan Suraaj Party is contesting all 243 seats independently.
