Guwahati:

In an interesting development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has given out his predictions on the number of seats each political party would get.

The Chief Minister has claimed that the ruling NDA will win 90-100 seats in the upcoming assembly polls out of the total 126 seats.

"We will win 90-100 seats in the upcoming polls. Congress will get 16-17 seats, All India United Democratic Front (5-6) seats, Raijor Dal (1) and Assam Jatiya Parishad will not win any seats. We will comfortably win Tihu and Nalbari seat in good margin,Akhil Gogoi's party Raijor Dal will win only one seat in Dihing. In Sivasagar neck to neck fight will happen but at last NDA candidate will win from the seat," Sarma told reporters.

In past many of his predictions in the run up to several polls had turned out to be correct.

He further added, "We will win Dhubri and Golakganj. No contest in Guwahati because we will win all the seats in Guwahati with good margin,In Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seats, we will register win in all the seats. We will also win Lakhimpur and Kaziranga Lok Sabha seats. In all the seats, our NDA candidate will comfortably win," Sarma stated.

"The position of Congress is not so good in upper Assam. BJP have transformed all the upper Assam seats. Tea tribes are the majority in most of the seats and they have transformed from Congress to BJP. Earlier, upper Assam  was a bastion of Congress but in 2016 Assembly polls, BJP snatched away most of the seats from them," said a political observer.

Assam will go for polls on April 9 in all the 126 Assembly seats in  a single phase elections.

Meanwhile the main opposition Congress has said that the Chief Minister is day dreaming.

"He is day dreaming. After poll results who will be shocked to see the rise of the Congress self opposition. People of Assam are fed up with the mis-rile and will vote for change", said Congress spokesperson Barnali Phukan.
