In a major boost to India's deep-tech landscape, Alliance University inaugurated AU-QUASAR (Alliance University - Quantum AI School for Advanced Research) at Electronics City, Phase 1, Bengaluru, on Sunday.

The launch established India's first commercially accessible 8-qubit quantum computing experience centre with the QVidya system at its core.

Designed as an independent, multidisciplinary campus, AU-QUASAR bridges quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and cyber-physical systems. The inauguration was graced by Guest of Honour Sharath Kumar Bache Gowda, Chairman of the Karnataka Electronics Industries Development Corporation (KEONICS) and Karnataka MLA, alongside Chief Guest Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-founder of Infosys. The dignitaries formally opened the campus and unveiled key facilities, including the Quantum Computing Centre, powered by Bengaluru-based quantum computing firm QpiAI, and an AI Lab accelerated by NVIDIA DGX servers, high-performance systems used for AI computing. Key specialised hubs opened include a Knowledge Resource Centre, Digital Fabrication Lab, Electronic Systems Design Lab, Science Writing and Data Storytelling Lab, Social Innovation Centre, and a Technology Business Incubator.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Abhay G Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor of Alliance University, welcomed attendees and outlined the institution's commitment to cutting-edge research. Sharath Kumar Bache Gowda emphasised strengthening technology ecosystems through academia-industry-government collaboration, while Kris Gopalakrishnan delivered a keynote address detailing India's evolving deep-tech sector.

To train future technologists, AU-QUASAR will offer specialised BTech programs in Quantum Computing and Information Science, AI and Machine Learning, Robotics and AI, and Cyber-Physical Systems.

The ceremony drew leaders from academia, industry, and government, including Ashok Vasudevan, Managing Director of Rosenberger India, a connector-technology manufacturer; Professor Suresh Sundaram, Chair, Cyber-Physical Systems, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru; Dr Dinesh Babu Jayagopi, Dean - Research and Development, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru; IISc's Professor Arindam Ghosh, Chair of the Karnataka Quantum Task Force, a state government body driving quantum research policy; Nagaraja Prakasam, Angel Investor and Mentor; and Olympian Dr Anju Bobby George. With this milestone, Alliance University strengthens Karnataka's innovation ecosystem and advances India's global leadership in emerging technologies.
