New Delhi:

One of the most anticipated Hindi films of 2026, Ramayana Part 1 led by Ranbir Kapoor, releases at Diwali 2026. After an exciting event offering the first glimpse of Ramayana in Los Angeles, the lead actor-Ranbir Kapoor-along with director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra headed to New York City for a second screening. It was at the Los Angeles event that Ranbir Kapoor spoke about how he realised they had nailed the casting of Ramayana with Sai Pallavi as Sita. He also applauded Yash, who is playing the role of Ravana.

What Ranbir Kapoor Said

Speaking at the Los Angeles event, Ranbir Kapoor said, "We all know Sai is such a brilliant actor. You know, she's accomplished so much. The first day, I remember, when I saw her as Sita, I just looked at Nitesh sir, and we both just knew that we couldn't have cast someone better than her."

He continued, "Yash, of course, he has the stardom that he has. To play Ravana, you need somebody who has that aura and screen presence."

The teaser of the film was dropped yesterday. While Sai Pallavi as Sita remained out of focus, the ending teased the audience with a back shot of Yash as Ravana walking towards his pushpaka vimana-the flower-shaped chariot he used to transport Sita to Lanka.

Ramayana Teaser

The teaser introduces the audience to Ranbir Kapoor's many moods as Lord Rama. From killing a monster to his exile in the forest, the two-minute, 38-second teaser shows Ranbir embracing the mythical figure with its celebrated grandeur, grace, poise, and regality.

Ramayana has been made on a staggering budget of Rs 4,000 crore.

Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, producer Namit Malhotra revealed, "When we set out to make this six or seven years ago, people thought I was a lunatic because no Indian film comes close to this scale. Put simply, the budget will be around $500 million for both parts combined, which is over Rs 4,000 crore."

The film is set to be released in two parts, with the first instalment scheduled for worldwide release in October 2026, ahead of Diwali, while the second part is slated for Diwali 2027.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Yash play pivotal roles in the film.
