The official Hollywood awards season kicked off with the 83rd Golden Globes. The highly anticipated event, which sets the stage for the Oscars, took place at the Beverly Hilton,California, US on Sunday, January 11.

One Battle After Another, with nine nominations, ended up winning four awards in the categories of Best Film - Musical Or Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (Female).

In the category of Best Limited Series (Television), Netflix original Adolescence reigned supreme with four wins - Best Limited Series, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor (Male) and Best Supporting Actor (Female).

The Pitt won two awards including Best Actor (Drama) and Best Series in the Television category.

Hamnet, which was named the Best Drama (Film), also brought the Best Actress award for the film's actress, Jessie Buckley.

The award for the Best Actor (Drama/Film) went to Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent. Notably, the film also took home Best Non-English Language Film award.

A new category-best podcast-has been introduced this year, and Good Hang with Amy Poehler won the award. This is Amy Poehler's first Golden Globe. Owen Cooper (Adolescence) and Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) also joined the league of the first-time winners.

US comic Nikki Glaser returned to hosting duties after last year.

She delivered an opening monologue that rivaled the Globe greats-Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler-roasting the A-list celebrities in the room.

Hosting the Golden Globes, Glaser later said, was "without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career."

But Glaser told the BBC's Regan Morris earlier this week that she often feels intimidated by all the "star power" in the room, adding: "I blur my eyes when I'm on stage. I'll be doing that so hard on the night."
