About Sangrur

The Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency consists of Lehra, Dirba, Sunam, Bhadaur, Barnala, Mehal Kalan, Malerkotla, Dhuri and Sangrur assembly segments. Under this constituency the Dirba, Bhadaur and Mehal Kalan assembly seats fall under the scheduled caste category. 

The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.

AAP's Bhagwant Mann is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, the SAD nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 211721. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Sanitation, and the Joint Committee on Offices of Profit.   

This time the lok sabha elections will have Kewal Singh Dhillon, who was the Congress nominated candidate from this constituency along with SAD's Parminder Singh Dhindsa and AAP's Bhagwant Mann. They are among the 25 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are 10 independent candidates.

The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,424,743.
