About Fatehgarh Sahib

The Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha constituency, which is reserved under the scheduled caste category, consists of Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh, Khanna, Samrala, Sahnewal, Payal, Raikot, Amargarh assembly segments. Under this constituency the Bassi Pathana, Payal and Raikot assembly seats fall under the scheduled caste category. 

The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.

AAP's Harinder Singh Khalsa is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Sadhu Singh, the Congress nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 54144. He is a two-time Member of Parliament. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Information Technology, Joint Committee on Food Management in Parliament House Complex, and the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.  

This time the lok sabha elections will have Amr Singh, who was the Congress nominated candidate from this constituency along with SAD's Darbara Singh Guru and AAP's Bandeep Singh. They are among the 20 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are seven independent candidates.

The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,396,957.
