About Faridkot

The Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency, which is reserved under the scheduled caste category, consists of Nihal Singhwala, Bhagha Purana, Moga, Dharamkot, Giddarbaha, Faridkot, Kotkapura, Jaitu, Rampura Phul assembly segments. Under this constituency the Nihal Singhwala and Jaitu assembly seats fall under the scheduled caste category. 

The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.

AAP's Sadhu Singh is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, the Congress nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 172516. He is a member of the Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, Consultative Committee of Ministry of Human Resource Development, and the Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House. 

This time the lok sabha elections will have Gulzar Singh Ranike, who was the SAD nominated candidate from this constituency along with AAP's Sadhu Singh, INC's Mohammad Sadique, and Daljit Singh Chauhan of the Nationalist Congress Party. They are among the 20 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are five independent candidates.

The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,455,075.
